INSTRUCTOR BRET HARTMAN
Bret has been heavily involved with Michigan golf for many years, having made the state’s ‘High School All-State Super Team’, which consisted of Michigan’s top eight junior golfers. He played college golf at Ferris State University, and worked as a PGA Apprentice at Oakland Hills CC, Cordillera CC, and FoxFire CC. Bret graduated from Ferris State with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business and from the Professional Golf Management School, earning a ‘Class A PGA Professional’ title. After graduating and turning pro, Bret competed on various mini-tours, including top 10 finishes and five professional victories. He qualified for the PGA Professional National Championship, which consisted of the top 312 PGA Professionals in the country, in 2012. He has been taught by some of golf’s greatest instructors, such as Rick Smith, Jim Flick, Dave Pelz, Tom Stickney, Steve Brady, and Todd Anderson. He has instructed clinics with some of the world’s greatest players, such as Gary Player, Annika Sorenstam, Rocco Mediate, and Rich Beam. He has also instructed top professional athletes, such as Steve Yzerman, Doug Brown, and Barry Sanders. Bret was a PGA Teaching Professional at Carl’s Golfland and Royal Golf Center before joining the RSGA team. He has been teaching for over ten years and has helped golfers of every caliber reach their golf goals, from tee to green.
Rick Smith Premier –The Rick Smith Premier Session offers students a full swing instructional session with Rick Smith. The program is limited to six students, and includes 3.5 hours of instruction with assistance from Academy instructors. Using state-of-the-art technology, each student will receive a personalized video analysis conducted by Rick Smith. Premier sessions offer a minimal student-to-teacher ratio, ensuring the needs of your game are attended to directly throughout the session. $750 per person.
3-Day Classic—The most complete golf school offered at the RSGA, involving all forms of instruction such as short game, full swing, equipment analysis, golf course management, and proper practice habits. The Classic is an 18-hour program over three days and includes lunch with your instructor. $1,800 per person.
3-Day Workshop—Three consecutive days of 4-hour sessions, for a total of 12 hours of instruction dedicated to full swing, short game, and advanced practice techniques. $1,200 per person.
Masters (1 or 2 Day)—Our most popular program consists of two consecutive half-day sessions for a total of 8 hours of instruction involving full swing and short game techniques. Choose to do just one day if you would like to focus solely on Short Game or Full Swing, Day 1 is Short Game, Day 2 is Full Swing. One Day is $450 per person & Two Day is $850 per person.
The Tour Experience (1 Day)--The “Tour Experience” offers you the complete game assessment package. Receive personalized instruction utilizing world renowned state-of-the-art analysis technology used by the top players on the PGA and LPGA Tours. Your instructor will use this information to help diagnose and address areas for improvement in your technique and equipment. The Experience also includes on-course coaching which will incorporate course management and mental aspects of the game. This program consists of 6 hours of training, four hours on the range and two hours on-course. $695 per person.
JUNIOR SUMMER GOLF CAMPS- Juniors will be taught all parts of the game including full swing, short game, putting, rules, and etiquette. Beginner camps are $250 per junior per camp, or you can “bring a buddy” and each pay $150 per camp. Advanced camps are $299 per junior per camp, or you can “bring a buddy” and each pay $199 per camp. Rick Smith Champion camps are $399 per junior per camp, or you can “bring a buddy” and each pay $299 per camp.
Beginner camps will focus on a mix of full swing & short game fundamentals and drill work, etiquette discussions, on-course time playing Par 3 holes, and contests. These camps are catered towards juniors with little to no golf experience.
Advanced camps feature a mix of full swing & short game fundamentals and drill work, learning “how to” practice, etiquette & rules discussions, video analysis, and playing some holes. These camps are catered towards juniors that play regularly, and have some competitive experience.
Rick Smith Champion camps focus on a nice mix of full swing & short game fundamentals and drill work, etiquette & rules discussions, proper practice, pre-shot & post-shot mental techniques, video analysis, trackman experience, and 9 hole competition. These camps are for juniors that compete regularly.
PRIVATE LESSONS--Private golf lessons with a Rick Smith Golf Academy Instructor will provide you with a personalized approach to game improvement. Our one hour, private lessons are tailored to meet the needs of the beginner as well as the most advanced player. Full swing lessons may include state-of-the-art video analysis as well as Trackman radar technology so you can fully understand and see your swing improvement. Short game and on-course lessons are also encouraged.
